Shanti Paath for Indians Living Abroad (NRIs)
The recitation, reading, and chanting of the Hindu mantra for happiness, harmony, and peace serve as incantations at the beginning and closing of all Hindu religious rituals and ceremonies. We can conduct this for non-resident Indians (NRIs) anywhere in the world.
Recitation, reading, or chanting of Hindu sacred texts is called a Paath or Path. Shanti Paath is described as the Hindu mantra for happiness, harmony, and peace. The Shanti Paath is generally called Hindu “Peace Mantras.” Derived from the Vedas, they are the Hindu prayers for shanti or peace. These incantations of peace, harmony, and joy are generally recited at the opening and closing of Hindu religious rituals, ceremonies, and discourses.
The Shanti Mantras are part of the Upanishads. The invocations or chanting end with saying the word “shanti” or peace thrice. Uttering the word three times is meant to take away the obstacles or hindrances to the one reciting it and to his immediate environment. These obstacles or troubles are classified into three categories collectively called “tapa-traya.””
These obstacles come from the three areas of the physical or Adhi-Bhautika such as natural disasters and wild animals, the internal or Adhyaatmika such as illnesses and pain, and the divine or Adhi-Daivika such as ghosts and spirits. The invocations of Shanti Mantra are meant to calm or pacify these obstacles for the one reciting them, as well as for his immediate surroundings. The ‘path to peace’ or the Hindu prayer for peace calms an agitated mind and helps one to overcome the ego.
When the words and syllables are repeated during the chanting of the Hindu peace prayer, physical vibrations are produced in the body to bring forth spiritual energies, positive vibes, expansion of the mind, and transformation of one’s inner landscape. These positive energies bring about general physical wellbeing that translates into peace in the world and the universe.
This is the English translation of the Shanti Paath mantra:
Unto Heaven be Peace, Unto the Sky and the Earth be Peace, Peace be unto the Water, Unto the Herbs and Trees be Peace, Unto all the Gods be Peace, Unto Brahma and unto All be Peace, And may We realize that Peace, Om Peace, Peace, Peace, Om.

I’m totally blown away by the concept of seamlessly merging ancient religious tradition with the latest in mobile app technology. That’s pretty amazing! Asthivisarjan.com is I believe first of its kind in USA, behind this very novel and exciting concept. Not only will you not need to go to India to attend the rituals of Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan yourselves, you can watch the videos and see the pictures of the event right after the rituals are conducted in India. That’s because the videos and pictures of the rituals are promptly uploaded to a convenient mobile app. It’s just like you’re actually on site yourself. Moreover the site is full of information for our young adults who are not familiar with our traditions and rituals, to read and get familiar with it.
Milan Shah - Forest Hills, NYI call this total convenience! Can you imagine how huge a help this is for Indians living abroad? We have religious obligations to fulfill for family members who have departed us, but these rituals such as Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan need to be performed in India. Our dilemma is now solved, however. Asthivisarjan.com offers services where the rituals will be performed traditionally by Brahmin priests in India, and us Indians living abroad need not fly to India to attend the rituals. The videos and pictures of the ceremonies will be uploaded safely and securely to a mobile application that Asthivisarjan.comprovides. What more can you ask?
Shailendra Koya - New Hyde Park, NYI have to admit I have not thought about going home when I die. But why not? The more I think about it the more it appeals to me. My children are as American as apple pie and even with the best of intentions would be quite clueless as to how to fulfill my wishes. Thank you for making it so seamless and so spiritual. Adhering to vedik tradition enhancing my good karma by feeding the hungry & easing my onward journey. What could be dearer to my heart? Truly a perfect marriage of form and function.
Dr. Ritu Bhagat - Livingston, New JerseyWe are a close-knit Indian family residing outside India. Family is very important to us. Like others we are also very concerned with how we will deal with conducting the last rituals for the departed when death occurs in family. This has always been a problem for non-resident Indians because these rituals of Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan and all the others have to be performed in India itself. What if one cannot go to India to attend these rituals for departed family member? Fortunately, we stumbled upon this group Asthivisarjan.com and the answers to our concerns were suddenly clear to us. Problem solved.
Pankaj Chauhan - Jackson Heights NY 11372I have lots of Hindu friends and I am aware of the pain they go through when someone in the family dies and the ashes has to be disposed off in river Ganges on a timely manner. There are many reasons, such as health, job, etc that one is unable to go to India for this rituals. Some of my friends are holding the ashes for their family member for more than two years. When one of my friends mentioned about this service called “Asthivisarjan.com” I started sharing this information with my other Hindu friends. They were thrilled. I believe this was the service really needed for Hindu communities living outside of India.
Dr. Iftikhar Choudry - ND, D.I. Hom - Jackson Heights NY 11372Asthivisarjan.com offers services for paying homage to the dearly departed and our ancestors. In particular, they receive monetary donations for the feeding of cows and poor people. This is also for homage. They have a number of donation packages you can choose from and are 100% tax deductible in USA. As Indians, it is our obligation to extend donations to give peace and respect to the souls of our dearly departed. I plan to send my donations through this group. Besides, we have to help in the living sustenance of our sacred cows.
Ramesh Lakhani - Floral Park Nassau County NYFollowing the religious beliefs of Indians, the soul is able to achieve full salvation only if the Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan are performed as per Indian custom and traditions. In a difficult emotional moment for Indians living abroad, asthivisarjan.com takes care of the rituals performed by Hindu priests for your deceased loved ones. They take care of everything and you do not have to go to India. A boon for all who wish to honor and respect the wishes of the departed.
Bimal Saaket - Nassau County NYAs a non-resident Indian, our initial concern about religious rituals being offered online was the question of authenticity and validity of these rituals. It means, are these rituals still traditional? Are they performed according to our epics and sacred books? Are they keeping with how our ancestors performed them? You have to admit that these are legitimate concerns. I did my due diligence and read the website Asthivisarjan.com and everything was explained to my satisfaction. The services may be offered online but the rituals themselves will be performed by Vedic priests in full traditional manner in a holy location in India. Indians not in India do not have to attend the ceremonies in person. The religious rituals are still 100% authentic and traditional.
Saurav Mahajan - Hicksville New YorkMy family knows for a fact that Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan should be performed in a holy site in India. With asthivisarjan.com, we will have the option of having the rituals for our departed loved one conducted in India without us traveling all the way there. To travel to India for these rituals is nearly impossible for us since we cannot leave our jobs abroad. When you read about the group’s services, you’ll rest assured that the rituals will be performed in the traditional manner and all you have to do is receive on your mobile app the pictures and videos of the event. We will definitely support their effort and request others to do the same.
Milan Doshi - Charlotte North CarolinaBrahmin Priests are pillars in the Hindu religion. I looked for an organization that could facilitate all of my dealings with Brahmin priests in India to support. Fortunately, I came upon asthivisarjan.com that can facilitate these offerings and charity sharing. The Organization is reliable and is one that I know I can trust.
Rupen Mehta - Ontario CanadaOne of my friends family would like to have shraadh services performed for them. On one hand, we are Indians who wish to keep our religious obligations and traditions. On the other hand, we are so busy ourselves making our living abroad. But we heard about this group of asthivisarjan.com that can perform all these shraadh rituals on our behalf. That will be very convenient for busy people like us. We will be consulting asthivisarjan.com for these particular needs of family. That’s a win-win situation, if you ask me.
Oomen Koshay - Queens NYOur concern with online Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan services is cost. The groups command hefty fees. I came upon Asthivisarjan.com whose service packages are not only comprehensive but absolutely affordable. And there’s more! They have this nifty idea of having the videos and pictures of the event uploaded right after the ceremonies on your very own mobile app. This group makes the lives of Indians abroad much easier. I’m definitely working with this group to offer advance payment for their service.
Sukhwant Walia - Ozone Park NYWhat an absolutely helpful service that asthivisarjan.com provides. They offer services for Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan where the rituals can be performed in India by Hindu priests even without the family in attendance. That’s a huge help for Indians abroad who cannot attend these ceremonies. One should definitely take advantage of their services because they are the exact solution for all of us here in abroad.
Anil Patel - Fisher Indiana 46037For Indians living abroad, there’s this neat concept launched by asthivisarjan.com where Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan, as well as other rituals for the departed family and ancestors, will be performed in India as they should be and the family need not be there. Isn’t that total convenience for those who need to get these rituals done? And the service packages are very affordable, too. I am sold to this group. I will get in touch with them soon to see how I can pre-book their services so that I won’t cram when the need arises.
Dr. Ketan Parikh - Finksbury, MarylandTime is of the essence when a family member passes away and our Hindu religion obliges us to perform Asthi Visarjan on a prescribed timetable after our loved one’s demise. Asthivisarjan.com solves this constraint of time. They take care of everything in their full-service offerings, and Indians not in India don’t even have to go to India to have these rituals performed. The homage will be conducted by Hindu priests in full traditional ceremony. That takes out the worry.
Bhavesh Sheth - New York City, NYI like the idea of having these Hindu religious obligations taken care of while one’s family is grieving and far from India. This has always been a challenge for Hindus that don’t live in India. Often, a family is not in a position to travel at all when the need for these rituals arises. When AsthiVisarjan.com launched their service of having their priests perform the rituals in India on behalf of family outside of India, it shed the ethical dilemma from already difficult times. Now, one can rest peacefully knowing our ritual obligations are fulfilled. Finally, there is a forward-looking company that offers a one-stop service for these rituals. Asthivisarjan.com, you hit the target when you said you provide solutions! Now families in need should definitely call for their needs in Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan when the time comes.
Vipul Malick - Wayne, New JerseyAs an Indian living in America, I really commend the creators of this service. The last rights of humans were always given very importance since Vedic times. They are helping souls rest in peace in the lap of their Motherland.
Vikas Khanna - Manhattan, New YorkHow clever! You can have the Indian rituals of Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan traditionally done for any family member who passes away but you don’t have to travel back to India to attend it. That sure helps a lot for Indians like us who do not live in India. With Asthivisarjan.com, all we need to do is sit back in our own home and watch the videos and look at the pictures of the actual events in India on our mobile apps. I’m definitely going for this group and will avail of their services right away in preparation for that time when a loved one departs from this world.
Sandeep Uberoi - Long Island City, New YorkNon-resident Indians no longer have the excuse of not performing the last rituals for their dearly departed family member, or postponing them. These are religious obligations of Indians regardless of where they are in the world. Even if they cannot go to India where these rituals have to be conducted, there is no longer reason to fret. Asthivisarjan.com can do them in India without the family from abroad attending them. Now there’s a solution for you. In fact, that solves the biggest concern of my family. All we need to do is avail of their services. No more excuses.
